Now more than ever, technical advances are merging with scientific and societal demands to drive and unprecedented wave of environmental observing systems that examine the air, land, sea and coasts. This new information is critical to both scientists and policy makers, as they not only tell us about the past, but also shed insight into what we will likely see in the future.
By connection ongoing analysis and computer modeling, UMCES researchers are driving the next generation of environmental observation systems. When mature, this technology will allow scientists to analyze data in near real-time and pass that information on to policy makers and natural resource managers to improve the way we take care of our environment.
