Ecosystem-Based Management
Ecosystem-based management looks at all the links among living and non-living resources, rather than considering single issues in isolation. By considering human activities, their benefits and potential impacts within the context of the broader biological and physical environment, the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science has developed a strong national and international reputation as a leader in its development.
By providing natural resource managers new tools that allow their programs to evolve beyond simplistic single-issue management, the Center is fostering the development this new approach to protecting and preserving the environment.
The Center strives to transcend the boundaries of traditional scientific disciplines by integrating and applying its expertise across terrestrial, aquatic and marine environments through innovative research and data analysis.
